About Tal Rappleyea
Tal Rappleyea is a New York state-licensed real estate and municipal lawyer with nearly three decades of law experience. Tal’s real estate law practice specializes in leases, sales, purchases, deeds, claims settlements, financing, investments, mortgages and more. As for his municipal law practice, Tal has explored several roles as an attorney, ranging from positions as Attorney for the Town and Attorney for the Village of several municipalities in New York state. In these roles, Tal has covered municipal law issues like education policies, property taxes, police power, and zoning.
Tal’s past endeavors include member of the Town of Kinderhook Board of Assessment Review, located near Albany, New York; a Board of Trustees member of Stoneleigh-Burnham School, in Greenfield, Massachusetts; and volunteered his time at the Valatie First Presbyterian Church.
Although Tal Rappleyea maintains an active lifestyle by volunteering in his community and maintaining memberships in his field of practice, he still makes time for shooting some golf balls on the range.
Education
As a high school student at the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School in Windham, New York, Tal Rappleyea succeeded in a multitude of school-sponsored activities. He became a member of the National Honor Society, which is the nation’s top organization established to recognize outstanding high school students for scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Celebrities such as journalist Katie Couric, former U.S. president Gerald Ford, and Baltimore Orioles athlete Cal Ripken, Jr. are also members of the National Honor Society.
Tal Rappleyea also excelled as the vice president of his class during both his junior and senior years of high school. Aside from his academic capabilities, Tal also exuded talents in athletics. He impressively attained varsity letters on four school-sponsored sports — basketball, soccer, golf, and baseball — and was even selected to join the Central New York Senior All-Star baseball team.
After his high school graduation, Tal Rappleyea completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York, Cortland, formerly known as Cortland State. To achieve his dreams of becoming a lawyer, Tal majored in political science, where his curriculum covered the basics of U.S. and world politics, political theory and research techniques. To accompany his political science major, Tal chose to minor in history. This combination has allowed him to work in the field of local government and public policy.
Subsequently, Tal Rappleyea got accepted into law school and completed his Juris Doctorate at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While there, Tal’s degree program concentrated in public administration, which prepared him with the understanding of economic and social organizations and processes, ethical and moral dilemmas of public administration, the nature of governmental issues, political and legal institutions and processes, and techniques of analysis, including quantitative and statistical methods.
Tal’s undergraduate degree in political science his minor in history from the State University of New York, Cortland, and his Juris Doctorate in law from Hamline University helped Tal launch his career in New York state municipal law.
Professional Accomplishments
In January 1989, Tal Rappleyea was admitted to the New York State Bar Association, which is the largest voluntary state bar organization in the nation. With a membership of more than 74,000 lawyers — representing every town, city and county in the New York, Tal is proud to be a member along with former presidents Grover Cleveland and Chester A. Arthur.
Tal was later allowed entry to the Northern District of New York Federal Court, which is one of the 94 federal judicial districts in the country. This opportunity opened doors for Tal and allowed him the opportunity to take on several roles as a private attorney. Tal took a role at Tocci, Parker, & Tocci as a senior associate attorney. While there, he supervised junior associates and staff while handling the general practice. Special emphasis was placed on cases related to personal injury and ERISA collections, which include pension and health plan protection for employees.
Currently, Tal Rappleyea owns his private office and is a solo practitioner for the Law Offices of Tal G. Rappleyea in Valatie, New York. He can be credited with establishing and operating his own general practice law office with focused concentrations in municipal law and real estate. Tal serves individuals that need real estate guidance as well as several counties in New York state that require a representative to handle municipal law issues.
As for his personal interests, Tal Rappleyea is a part of the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association, which is an accredited provider of continuing legal education credits focusing on personal injury litigation topics. He also still maintains his membership with the County Bar Association of New York State.
